Welcome to this week’s edition of Third Sentence Thursday!
- Take the book you are currently reading and open it to a random page. Share the third full sentence on that page. (If there isn’t a third one – like at the end of a chapter or a blank page – you can share the third sentence of the book or just choose another random page.) Feel free to share more than one sentence, if you feel the need to do so.
- Share your thoughts, if any, on the sentence.
- Post a link to your blog post in the link list below. Don’t forget to link back here, too! (There is a button in the sidebar to the right.) If you don’t have a blog, just leave it in the comments here.
- Visit one or two of the other blogs to check out their third sentence(s).
Here’s mine:
She wished Peter were home to give her a hand, but he had a board meeting at the Manna House Women’s Shelter, then was going back to the office – another Saturday – and wouldn’t be home till suppertime. If only they lived on the first floor! ~ page 125 in Stand By Me by Neta Jackson
Been there, done that! She’s bringing groceries in. Thankfully, I’ve not had to lug things up to a third-floor condo/apartment! Still, I’ve wished my husband was home – instead of away for work, football refereeing, or whatever – to help with groceries countless times!

I marveled at his perpetually perfect shock of sandy blonde hair. ~ The Onyx Talisman by Brenda Pandos
Once again, I haven’t yet started reading, so this is the third sentence of the book. This review is due later this week, though, so I best get started. Anyway, this is the final book in Pandos’ Talisman trilogy. I’ve been looking forward to this book for a long time.
As for this quote: why is it the guys always have that perfect bit of hair?
So, let’s see what everyone’s reading today!

Here’s mine:
I rose to my knees and the sky grew hotter and closer as water poured over me. I knew I should turn around, that there was something behind me. I didn’t know how I knew. ~ Miracle (ARC) by Elizabeth Scott
As of writing this, I haven’t yet begun reading Miracle, so I just chose the third (through fifth) sentence this week. I loved As I Wake, also by Elizabeth Scott, so I’m excited to be getting into this one! The narrator speaking is the only survivor of a plane crash. I think it’s safe to say that this is on-scene.
So, let’s see yours! (And spread the word! Let’s get more participants!)

Here’s Mine:
My goal is to get around the other side of the house and then get close to the back door. I need to see what’s inside that house, see what it is that has my father proposing to burn it down. ~ page 103 in Unraveling (ARC) by Elizabeth Norris
I’m about a quarter of the way through this book – possibly finished by the time you are reading this post – and it’s good. Quite good. (Hopefully I can still say this when the post is live. LOL) It’s about a girl who’s hit by a truck and dies, only to be brought back by a kid she knows at school. She finds out about some mystery countdown, and a UIED (Unidentified Improvised Explosive Device) that no one knows how to stop. Plus some freakish radiation burns/poisoning killing people. So far the plot’s compelling, interesting, and keeping me going. Anywho …
So, let’s see yours!

It is hard and deep and angular, a system of blockades. It is everything and total. ~ page 166 in Pandemonium (ARC) by Lauren Oliver
I have been waiting over a year for this book and am THRILLED to finally be reading it!
I’m actually posting this before sitting down and starting reading, so I have no idea what she’s talking about. Can’t wait to find out!
I can’t wait to see yours!

Before I get started, let me offer my apologies. Last week was a crazy week for my family. My routine was shot, and that always makes my life go crazy! So, I apologize for missing last week.
With that said, I’ve decided not to change things up on a weekly basis. I’m going to have the same rules each week so that those who like to post the night before always know what to expect. It’s going to be the third full sentence on a random page. My reason for that (rather than the third sentence of the book) is because on Fridays there’s Book Beginnings, which I think makes TST kinda silly when it’s at the beginning of the book. I hope that makes sense. If you still wanna do the third sentence of your current read, feel free. This is more about having fun and giving others peeks into books they might have overlooked otherwise!

Third Sentence Thursday is a weekly meme that doesn’t plan to skip anymore weeks anytime soon.

Here’s mine:
“Because while Gracchus might be an incompetent embezzler, he’s a capable logistics officer. We need him. Had the captain ordered an official investigation, it would have stained Gracchus’s honor, ruined his career, and discharged him from the Legion over a few bits of jewelry and new boots.” ~ page 66 of Cursor’s Fury by Jim Butcher
Clearly we have a thief in our midst. And now you see why the powers that be turn their heads when they know someone’s doing something wrong sometimes – well, at least the powers that be in this series!
This is Book 3 of the Codex Alera series, and I am loving the whole series.
I can’t wait to see everyone else’s sentences!

So, I did it again.
Lost track of time. Sorry. At least it’s still morning!

Third Sentence Thursday is a weekly meme that wonders – did the groundhog see its shadow this year?
- Take the book you are currently reading, and share the third sentence in the first chapter (NOT the preface, preamble, introduction, etc. – Chapter 1). Feel free to share more (maybe the first three, the second through fourth, or the third plus the two following) if you’d prefer.
- Share your thoughts, if any, on the snippet (or sentences).

Here’s mine:
No light at the end of the tunnel. No haloed angels. No dead grandparents. ~ Fracture (ARC) by Megan Miranda
I thought about just posting the third line (bolded), but decided to go with more. Yes, she’s talking about having been dead. I am about to start this one, so I’ve no idea exactly what’s going on – yet. I’m excited to be reading it, though.
I look forward to seeing what you’re reading!
