And we’re off!
Sorta. The kiddos aren’t cooperative – that does not bode well for the next two days. But, I’ll do my best to read what I can.
For the next few days, I’ll be reading as much as possible for this read-a-thon. So I don’t expect to have much of an online presence. No Teaser Tuesday, no other reviews, not much of anything. I’ll post reviews and such when it’s over. I will update this post throughout the day as I need a break, and to participate in the challenges.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ FIRST UPDATE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Shortly after I first posted this, we lost power! That derailed some of my reading, and created a small bit of excitement with the littles. LOL I’m taking a short break for my own sanity, to report on my progress, and to participate in a challenge. So, without further ado …
- 2:21 p.m. ~ Finished Tales from the Edge of Forever by Alexander Hammond (118 pages)
- 235 p.m. ~ Starting Someone to Watch Over Me by Michelle Stimpson
Challenge:
Hosted at IB Book Blogging, the first challenge is in regards to mythology, which is a big theme in YA lately. Bailey asks two questions, which I will answer below.
1. What is your favorite type of myth (Greek, Roman, Egyptian etc)? Well, Greek and Romany mythology are almost the same. The stories and gods/goddesses are the same people with different names. The stories, from my recollection, are pretty much the same, too. There might be small differences, but I don’t think they’re all that different. I know very little about Egyptian, Native American, and other mythologies. So, of what I do know, I’d pick Greek as my favorite. For one, I prefer their names to the ones the Romans used: Zeus, Hades, Aphrodite, Athena, etc. For another, they’re the originals (at least when compared to the Romans), so I might as well go with them!
2. What is your favorite book with some type of mythology in it? I haven’t read a bunch, but this year I have read two of them: Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton and Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini. Both were VERY good, but if I had to pick a favorite I think it’d be Starcrossed.
And now I must get back to reading! Thanks for keeping me company! I’ll check in again soon!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ SECOND UPDATE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Taking a break from reading for my own sanity. My head is full, and it’s time to check the mail anyway.
Plus, there’s another challenge to take a look at.
- 5:45 p.m. ~ on page 114 of Someone to Watch Over Me by Michelle Stimpson
OK, that was an on-blog challenge, but it was a LOT of fun. If you’re playing along – or want to (it’s not too late to join in) – you can find the challenge HERE. And not to get back to reading. I’m hoping to finish Someone to Watch Over Me tonight.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ FINAL UPDATE ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
And I am done for the day. Things went better than I’d expected!
I actually just finished (around 11:45 p.m.) Someone to Watch Over Me. Very good – look for my review when this is all finished. I was going to read The Awakening next, but it doesn’t get here until tomorrow (thanks to Amazon), so I’ll read Stork tomorrow.
Today’s Final Summary:
- Finished Tales from the Edge of Forever by Alexander Hammond (118 pages)
- Read Someone to Watch Over Me by Michelle Stimpson (293 pages)
- Completed 2 of 2 mini-challenges
- Total pages read today: 411
Tomorrow’s Goals:
- Read Stork by Wendy Delsol
- Start The Awakening by L. J. Smith (assuming it arrives early enough)
- If The Awakening isn’t here on time, start Between Here and Forever by Elizabeth Scott (or start this after finishing The Awakening – we’ll see)
And with that said, I’m done for today. I feel like I got a lot accomplished!
I’ll see you tomorrow with the new stats.
