Month in Review: April

April reviewApril has turned out to be a rather busy month. I’ve started a new freelance editing job on a part-time basis, and that’s greatly cut into my reading time. Which is, of course, affecting my ability to get reviews posted on time. Huge apologies to those who are still waiting for a review. It will come –hopefully sooner rather than later. According to Goodreads, I’m 4 books behind in reaching my goal this year. The goal was set at 125, which is lower than past goals. My intent was to cut back, so I guess behing behind in the pacing is a good thing, right? It’s not intentional, though. I actually thought that the start of the soccer season (for my kids) would result in my getting more reading done. But we’ve had tons of rain – which resulted in record flood levels, which of course covered the soccer fields. So, there went that hope! LOL

With all of that said, I feel like April was a pretty good month, so far as reading goes. So, let’s look back and see if I’m remembering correctly! ;-)

Month in Review: March

MarchIt’s that time again! :-) Another month has passed (again!), and it’s time to take a look back. In all, it was a slow month. But since I’m trying to focus less on reading/blogging and more on my family, I see it as a good thing. Although, soccer season has begun again, so I might be reading at a faster pace again. I gotta say, it amazes me how certain titles pop up again and again. Clockwork Angel (I really gotta finish that series!), Want to Go Private?, Lone Wolf, The Demon King (another series I need to get back into) … to name a few. It’s fun to see what lasts, although I noticed that last month there was no Clockwork Angel on the top-10 list. I think that was the first time for that!

To those of you sending referrals my way, THANK YOU! Your support means a lot.

And to those of you who keep coming back, THANK YOU a million times! You are why I do this in the first place!

Month in Review: January

JanuaryAnd just like that we’re through with the first month of 2013. I don’t know about you, but it FLEW BY for me! Hope the year’s off to a good start for everyone!

So, I’m seriously considering a redesign for Proud Book Nerd. I think this design is pretty, but there are things I don’t like about it. Things I don’t know how to fix, but I can fix it in another theme. So, either I’ll be redoing it at some point when I get bored (or just frustrated enough to give it a shot), or I’ll find someone who can do it. I can’t spend hundreds of dollars on it this time, so it might just be something I have to hope for at some point. We shall see …

Month in Review: December

DecemberHappy New Year!

I know, I know. I’m late. But not really all that late, right? ;-)

It’s hard to believe that a new year is upon us. What happened to 2012? I’ve learned a few things over the last 12 months. The main thing is that having kids moving out of the baby/diapers stage and into the kid/school stage didn’t free up time as I had expected. I honestly can’t tell you where I got that idea, but it was quickly proven wrong. I’m apparently needed even more – for my driving abilities. So, I found myself with less time to blog outside of the reviews I’ve agreed to write. So, memes have disappeared and special events have almost entirely disappeared, too. And readership suffered. My views were down. My following, well, that’s hard to say without Google Friend Connect. In the interest of time, I have stopped doing any reading challenges of any sort. I just don’t have time to keep that much detailed track of what I’m reading. I have time to read, write the review, and move on. And sometimes, not even that.

Life here with my family has to take top priority, so I apologize if you are one of those whose books never got reviewed. I will read and review everything ever sent to me for such purposes, but if I missed my date I cannot tell you when it’ll be. My humblest apologies are yours. I suspect there will be future review dates I miss, and I apologize in advance for that. I’ve learned to say no much more often than I ever had in the past, but still sometimes overbook (haha!) myself at times. Again, I apologize if you become a casualty of that.

Add to all of this, it appears I’ll be heading back to work on a part-time basis. Time I had been using for reading and reviewing will now be put to a more productive use – at least so far as the family budget goes. As such, I suspect I’ll have more trouble meeting deadlines for a while until I adjust to the new routine. Once again, huge apologies to everyone affected by this!

And, will all of that said, I hope ALL of you have a wonderful, prosperous, blessed 2013! Now, let’s get on with this already! ;-)
