Title: Pink Cupcake Magic
Author: Katherine Tegen
Illustrator: Kristin Varner
About: Zoe loves cupcakes, especially pink ones, and princesses, especially magic ones. Unfortunately her greedy brother Ralph loves cupcakes too—he spoils everything! One day Zoe bakes a wish into her cupcakes. Suddenly she is a real princess! But Ralph is still up to his old tricks. Will Princess Zoe finally find a way to give Ralph what he deserves?
My Thoughts: This book is absolutely adorable! The concept is sweet, and sure to appeal to most children — and not just girls! Even my 8-year-old son said he thought it was a good story. It was a touch silly, a dash of cute, and a whole lot of fun.
The illustrations are colorful and fun. My youngsters had fun simply looking at the pages, often to the point of derailing our reading! And, um, what’s not to love about a bunch of colorful, yummy-looking cupcakes? Best part? A recipe for cupcakes (and frosting) from scratch! I think my daughters and I — perhaps with some help from my son — will have to make them in the not-too-distant future!
While not really Valentine’s Day themed, Pink Cupcake Magic by Katherine Tegen would make the perfect addition to any cupcake-loving child’s library as part of a Valentine’s Day gift!
