Author: Gennifer Albin
Series: Crewel World #2
About: Life. Possibility. Choice.
All taken from Adelice by the Guild—until she took them back.
But amid the splendid ruins of Earth, Adelice discovers how dangerous freedom can be. Hunted by soulless Remnants sent by Cormac Patton and the Guild, Adelice finds a world that’s far from deserted. Although allies are easy to find on Earth, knowing who to trust isn’t. Because everyone has secrets, especially those Adelice loves most. Secrets they would kill to protect. Secrets that will redefine each of them. Torn between two brothers and two worlds, Adelice must choose what to fight for.
My Thoughts: I have been waiting a little over a year for this book. Crewel ended with such a cliffhanger that I was impatient – at best – to see how everything would play out. In short, Altered by Gennifer Albin was totally worth the wait. For sure. But, before I proceed with my review, let me get something out in the open (full disclosure and all that). I’m currently basking in the glow of a book I finished not 15 minutes ago. All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill. That review will be coming soon, but I fear this one might be a bit rushed …
So, about Altered. I’m honestly reluctant to say much about specifics. There are a lot of surprises that were truly unexpected, and I’d hate to ruin them for anyone. Shock value is just so rare these days …
But, I remember in Crewel being torn. Did I like Jost better or Eric? I can’t remember what, if any, choice I made. But, let’s just say that I very quickly knew which would be my book boyfriend – Eric. Before any revelations, before any surprises, before any really big happenings, I knew he was my choice. And I knew I really wanted to see him and Adelice together. Did I get that? Well, you’ll have to read it to find out!
Altered was fast-paced, full of surprises, and very hard to put down. And, again, the ending didn’t really tie much of anything up. But, this time it seemed like a bit less of a cliffhanger. Perhaps it’s because they haven’t just jumped through the weave … anywho, if you’ve been anxiously waiting to see what happens next in Crewel World, I think it’s safe to say that this will meet your expectations. There are lots of new revelations, new things about the Guild, new truths about everything – and some surprising discoveries. Book 3, Crewelest, cannot come soon enough for me!
