W = Warman, Williams, and Williams
When I picked up my next read, Beautiful Lies by Jessica Warman, I thought the author’s name looked familiar. But I couldn’t quite place her. And then I was looking through my shelves on Goodreads and found her name – twice. Once for Beautiful Lies, and again for Between. And I couldn’t believe I had forgotten. I loved Between. It was largely because I was SHOCKED at the very beginning. The synopsis that I had read didn’t have a major detail, so I didn’t know what to expect. And that, for me, made the story. I’m very excited to be starting Beautiful Lies soon, as I have been looking forward to reading more by Warman.
I swear I’m not being repetitive. The two Williams listed above are two different authors, I promise!
First up is Carol Lynch Williams, author of Glimpse (and many other books). I often credit Lisa Schroeder as my introduction to novels in verse, but I don’t know that I’m remembering correctly. I reread my review of Glimpse (linked above), and am thinking perhaps Williams is to blame. Regardless of who was first, both were quite instrumental in getting me reading this type of book – and loving it!
Suzanne Williams, together with Joan Holub (mentioned in my H post), is responsible for bringing my now-9-year-old daughter to a place where she enjoys reading. Prior to her discovering the Goddess Girls series, getting my daughter to read was quite difficult. A few pages into the first of the series, and she was hooked. She has since branched out to others – like The Kane Chronicles, How to Train Your Dragon, and others – but I suspect she’ll always look fondly back on the Goddess Girls (much the same way I look back on the Bunnicula series).
