Cover Love: March Picks

So, I’m a bit late. Life’s been crazy. Spring break, and now soccer has begun. Anyway, I enjoy going back and looking at the previous month’s covers!

Cover Love

From the host blog, I’m Loving Books:

Welcome to this month’s edition of Cover ♥ Love! Or as I like to say, Cover ♥ LoOoOove. On the first of every month, we’re showing the love by talking about our favorite book covers from books we’ve read the previous month. Are you loving up some covers this month? Well then join our monthly meme!

The rules can be found on the latest post HERE.

Now, I gotta tell you, March had great books. Not a lot of covers I’d say I love, though. Like, yes. Love, not quite that much. So, here are what I consider the best of those – in no particular order.

TorrentTitle: Torrent
Author: Lisa Tawn Bergren
Series: River of Time #3

About the Book: Gabriella and Evangelia Betarrini are just two normal American teenagers. Normal except for the fact that they time travel to fourteenth-century Italy, where they’ve lived in castles they’ve seen as crumbling ruins, become swept up in historic battles, and fallen in love with handsome knights willing to do anything to keep them alive.

They’ve returned to the present to save their father, just short of his tragic death, and now all four return to the place that holds the girls’ hearts, medieval Italy. But remaining there means facing great risk as the battle for territory wages on and the coming Black Plague looms. Can they convince their parents to stay and leave behind everything they’ve worked so hard to accomplish? And will the girls sacrifice their futures in an uncertain past? Or in facing death head-on, will they discover life as it was always meant to be lived?

Why I Love the Cover: Well, first and foremost because it continues the visual themes of the series. Second, the colors. I love the sunset (or sunrise, not sure which) over the river juxtaposed to the blackness around everything. Gorgeous. The dude, I’m guessing he’s supposed to be Marcello, isn’t hard to look at, either. Not quite my type, but I won’t complain! ;-)

My Thoughts on the Book: LOVED it. While Waterfall and Cascade fell a bit short of my expectations, Torrent took ‘em and ran. I couldn’t put it down, and I wasn’t ready for it to end! (And, no, it wasn’t the fault of the book. I just wanted MORE!) As a result, I grabbed Bourne (#3.1) for my Kindle almost immediately.

PandemoniumTitle: Pandemonium
Author: Lauren Oliver
Series: Delirium #2

About the Book: I’m pushing aside the memory of my nightmare,
pushing aside thoughts of Alex,
pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school,
push,
push,
push,
like Raven taught me to do.
The old life is dead.
But the old Lena is dead too.
I buried her.
I left her beyond a fence,
behind a wall of smoke and flame.

Why I Love the Cover: Again, it continues the visual themes of the first book. While I don’t like it quite as much as Delirium, I still find it visually striking. I think it definitely would’ve caught my eye if I was browsing a book store.

My Thoughts on the Book: I thought it was a fantastic followup to Delirium, and cannot wait for the series to continue. It’s riveting, and I found myself wanting to read constantly until I was finished. And the ending – WOW! I kinda maybe saw it coming, but it still was like a bomb. Awesome, awesome.
