Blog Tour: River of Time Series (Author Interview)

Welcome to today’s stop on the River of Time series blog tour, hosted by The {Teen} Book Scene. Today I have an interview with series author Lisa Tawn Bergren.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Proud Book Nerd: Where did the idea for the River of Time series come from?

Lisa Tawn Bergren: I wanted to write a series to capture my girls’ interest like Twilight did. But I didn’t want to write vampire novels, so I needed another romantic obstacle. Time travel was a nice solution—nothing like about 700 years to divide your hero and heroine…Plus I really wanted to write a story with knights and ladies, lots of high romance, and BIG action. Given that there were many, many ways to die in medieval times, there’s some good tension/threat.

PBN: What’s your favorite thing about being an author?

LTB: A flexible schedule.

PBN: What’s your least favorite thing about being an author?

LTB: A flexible income.

PBN: What book(s) are you reading right now?

LTB: Graceling

PBN: What is your favorite song?

LTB: Right now? “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri.

Thank you so much, Lisa! Great answers.

Waterfall (River of Time #1)About Waterfall

While most American teens would kill for an Italian vacation, the Betarrini sisters have spent every summer of their lives there with their archaeologist parents. And they’re not happy to be back. Stuck on yet another hot, dusty dig, they are bored out of their minds…until they place their hands atop handprints in an ancient tomb and find themselves catapulted into the Fourteenth Century. Gabi emerges in the middle of a dream–or nightmare?–with hot Italian knights in a fierce battle. And so begins her quest to return home…while wondering if she wants to at all.

A flexible income for a flexible schedule. But I guess some dreams are worth it. I couldn’t stop writing if I tried.

I’ve always found Knights so interesting and if I could time-travel I’d definitely want to visit one.

Yes! This is a GREAT alternative to Twilight (yucky…). Knights are soooo much more romantic, real, and awesome than vampires (especially sparkly ones).

I liked Graceling a lot! Very interesting book!

Great Interview! I guess the saying is true that you have to take the bad with the good (flexiable income for flexible schedule). Also, I hope you enjoy Graceling because I did. Although, I seem to love any story set around the historical times.

I have to say that “a flexible income” would be a negative for me! Lol! Thanks for the interview. And Graceling is a fabulous read. One of my favorites due to its comeplete originality, strong heroine, and creativity. I actually need to re-read that one soon.
