Mirror Ball: Living Boldly and Shining Brightly for the Glory of GodMirror Ball: Living Boldly and Shining Brightly for the Glory of God by Matt Redman

Summary: In his newest book, Mirror Ball: Living a Life that Reflects God’s Radiance, worship leader and songwriter Matt Redman reminds us that even when we feel insufficient to reflect God’s glory, God can show through us as light radiates through a prism. Living in this truth will transform how we view our words, our relationships and our daily lives.

Through story, Scripture and practical inspiration, Redman encourages his readers to remember that, however inadequate they may feel to live out this passion, God will work in and through them. After all, the same God who said “let there be light” has made His light to shine in their hearts, illuminating their lives and the lives of those around them.

My Thoughts: Mirror Ball by Matt Redman is an excellent book on what worship is and how it can help us approach life in a way that’s more pleasing to God. One of my favorite stories is the one about the mirror ball, which no doubt is the inspiration for the book’s title. Redman is a writer of amazing worship music, and he shares a lot of wonderful insights as to what worship is. It’s a quick, easy read that packs a powerful punch.

Favorite Quotes: There are so many awesome quotable nuggets in this book that it’s very hard for me to decide what to share! Here is just a small sample of the many wonderful snippets I found in Mirror Ball.

Passion is not only that which gets us up in the morning – it helps us see it through to the end of the day. Passion finishes what it begins and makes goon on its promise of running the race with perseverance and turning good intentions into fulfilled dreams.
~ pages 28-29

When we stay within our comfort zone and fail to trust Him for the big things, it’s dishonoring to God and disadvantageous to us. But when we trust God against the world’s odds and act upon the promises of God, He will gain much glory, and we will not be left unsatisfied. ~ page 55

When we come to trust and believe that our God is everything He says He is, our lives radically change. When we start to realize just how firm a foundation we live upon, that understanding gives us much faith and hope for the present and the future. ~ page 72

The way we see God directly correlates to the way we approach each day. If we know His name is great and we lift our eyes to the big picture, we are likely to live with a sense of security in this life, resting on the unshakable nature of Jesus. ~ page 74

We must learn to see beyond mere physical realities and grasp the spiritual actualities of our lives. ~ page 98
