Review: Paranormalcy

Paranormalcy (Paranormalcy, #1)Paranormalcy by Kiersten White

Summary (from Goodreads): Weird as it is working for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, Evie’s always thought of herself as normal. Sure, her best friend is a mermaid, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she’s falling for a shape-shifter, and she’s the only person who can see through paranormals’ glamours, but still. Normal.

Only now paranormals are dying, and Evie’s dreams are filled with haunting voices and mysterious prophecies. She soon realizes that there may be a link between her abilities and the sudden rash of deaths. Not only that, but she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.

So much for normal.

My Thoughts: I have heard so many good things about Paranormalcy by Kiersten White. I’m glad I finally got to read it. It’s an enjoyable story, full of lots of unique characters. I wasn’t quite so blown away by it, and I suspect that’s just the case of having seen so much hype that there’s no way the expectations could be met. At least, that’s my guess. Still, Paranormalcy delivers. It has a very unique paranormal story with awesome characters and witty banter. Love it!

Evie has got to be the best female protagonist I’ve come across in quite awhile! I might even like her better than Katniss from The Hunger Games – I’m not sure about that, though, so don’t quote me on it! ;-) Evie and Lend, aside from his somewhat lame name (sorry, Kiersten), are great. I love that they weren’t instantly in love. Yes, she fell for him quickly – and I suppose he did for her, too. But, there was getting to know each other in there first. I like that. The better she got to know him, the more she liked him. And I think Lend (again, despite the name), is an awesome guy. They are a great match.

And that’s enough talk – I have Supernaturally sitting right here, waiting to be opened. Look for that review soon! :-)
