Review: The Lady of Bolton Hill

The Lady of Bolton HillThe Lady of Bolton Hill by Elizabeth Camden

Summary: When Clara Endicott and Daniel Tremain’s worlds collide after twelve years apart, the spark that was once between them immediately reignites. But time has changed them both. As they face a painful reckoning, can they withstand the cost of their convictions while their hearts–and lives–hang in the balance?

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this book from start to finish. The characters are interesting people, and the chemistry between Daniel and Clara is evident. And while that is one of the most important elements of the story, it’s not the only one. The Lady of Bolton Hill is a fabulous story of love, forgiveness, redemption, and trusting in God’s plan. No, the reader isn’t throttled over the head with any of this, thankfully. The book is not in any way preachy. Christianity is central to the main theme of forgiveness. There even is a segment on what the difference is between justice and vengeance. That was a really great part.

There were a few sexually charged moments, but nothing that would make a Christian reader blush. It’s simply demonstrative of the chemistry between these two, and never goes beyond a kiss. All involved remain pure, and stick to their convictions while at the same time being almost painfully aware of the electric connection Daniel and Clara share.

While it is a quick read, I wouldn’t call it light. The aforementioned themes are by no means light themes. This book has sexual tension, arson, kidnapping, drugs, and much more throughout its pages. But it’s all handled tastefully. These vices (with the exception of the sexual tension) are used to show the importance and miracle of forgiveness and repentance. I would highly recommend this book to my friends, especially those into the romance genre.

Oooh, I really enjoyed this one. The Bane character seems like he must have had one twisted back story, but we never really got to hear what it was. Wonder if he’ll show up in a future book.
