Tyger Tyger by Kersten Hamilton
Summary (from Goodreads): Teagan Wylltson’s best friend, Abby, dreams that horrifying creatures–goblins, shape-shifters, and beings of unearthly beauty but terrible cruelty–are hunting Teagan. Abby is always coming up with crazy stuff, though, so Teagan isn’t worried. Her life isn’t in danger. In fact, it’s perfect. She’s on track for a college scholarship. She has a great job. She’s focused on school, work, and her future. No boys, no heartaches, no problems.
Until Finn Mac Cumhaill arrives. Finn’s a bit on the unearthly beautiful side himself. He has a killer accent and a knee-weakening smile. And either he’s crazy or he’s been haunting Abby’s dreams, because he’s talking about goblins, too . . . and about being The Mac Cumhaill, born to fight all goblin-kind. Finn knows a thing or two about fighting. Which is a very good thing, because this time, Abby’s right. The goblins are coming.
My Thoughts: I had a lot of fun reading this book. Finn is awesome. Reminds me of a much nicer, more refined, Will in Cassandra Clare’s Clockwork Angel. Well, not in looks so much. Just in his personality and his way with words. While Will, while swoon-worthy, leaves conflicting feelings behind, I found nothing but positive with Finn. Teagan is so smart, and clearly conflicted when she learns the truth about her ancestry. It appears she wants to punish herself for it, despite it being completely out of her control.
Anyway, I enjoyed delving into what clearly is Irish mythology. I’m not as familiar with the Irish stories, although I feel like I should be (lots of Irish blood in my veins), so this was all new to me. I must admit that I have no idea how to pronounce any of the Gaelic (or whatever language it is) in the story, so I just kinda skim those words. I kinda wish there was a pronunciation key at the back of the book.
That really was the only problem I had. The adventure was fun, and ends were tied. While I know there is at least one more book in this series, I didn’t feel like anything was left hanging.
Favorite Quote: There were lots of little tidbits in here that had me laughing, smiling, or nodding my head in agreement. But I only managed to mark one of them. (Sorry!)
“When I meet someone who says they’re not ‘much for books,’ I can guarantee that they haven’t met the right book yet.” Mr. Wylltson stood up. “I’d be happy to make some introductions.”

I love that quote!! I wish I could find the perfect book for my family to pick up and read
(more than the 1 book a year they manage on their own).
Must remember to start quoting lines in my reviews too, enjoyed reading it so much.
Thank you!
I don’t always do the quotes. Just when something really resonates with me.
