13 Treasures by Michelle Harrison
Summary (from Goodreads): No one else can see the evil fairies that rouse Tanya from her sleep, torturing her at the slightest mention of their existence, but they are as real to the 13-year-old as anything she’s ever known. She cannot rid herself of them, nor can she ignore them. But it is her insistence on responding to them that has her banished to her grandmother’s secluded countryside manor.
There is much to explore and even more to fear in the woods surrounding the estate. But, the forest isn’t the only source of dark secrets, and Tanya soon finds herself entangled in a mystery that could trap her in the fairy realm forever.
My Thoughts: I’m not entirely sure what I expected out of this book, but I was somewhat disappointed. The “mysteries” within the story were way too easy to see – and I felt Tanya was a bit dense for not figuring some of them out sooner. There were a couple of surprises thrown in there, though, and that’s always good. I think I expected more excitement, more suspense, or at least a faster-moving plot. It kinda dragged. Not too bad, but enough that I didn’t feel a pressing need to keep reading.

[...] That was my initial thought, which I posted on Goodreads, with the promise of more to come here. And now I’m trying to decide what to say. I don’t want to give away anything in this book. (Just be aware that some things in this book could give away stuff from the first book, 13 Treasures.) [...]
