Summary: Azalea is trapped. Just when she should feel that everything is before her . . . beautiful gowns, dashing suitors, balls filled with dancing . . . it’s taken away. All of it.
The Keeper understands. He’s trapped, too, held for centuries within the walls of the palace. And so he extends an invitation.
Every night, Azalea and her eleven sisters may step through the enchanted passage in their room to dance in his silver forest.
But there is a cost.
The Keeper likes to keep things.
Azalea may not realize how tangled she is in his web until it is too late.
My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this book a lot. It was great fun to read, and the world within came alive. My only complaint is that it’s not as original as I had thought, rather it’s a retelling of Grimm’s The Shoes That Were Danced to Pieces (also known as The 12 Dancing Princesses). I’m not as familiar with that tale as I am with others, so it took me awhile to recognize the resemblance. About halfway through, it dawned on me that this is just like that story, and I even went so far as to look up the Grimm story in order to make sure I was right about that. (It’s thanks to my daughters watch Barbie’s 12 Dancing Princesses DVD that I noticed the similarity! LOL) The only reason I found this mildly off-putting is that I didn’t notice anything anywhere recognizing that’s what this is. It’s way too close to the original tale to be coincidental. I think somewhere there should be a mention of it being a retelling of, or inspired by, the old tale. Otherwise, I absolutely loved this book.

I love fairy tale retellings! I read enough of them, that I recognized this as a retelling from the description and did a little happy dance! The 12 Dancing Princesses has always been my favorite fairy tale! Glad to hear you liked this one!
