This is from Busy Moms Who Love to Read, one of my favorite book blogs. To get to this week’s Linky, check out her current post.
This week’s rules:
Type in the first two sentences of the fourth chapter of your current book. If it is a spoiler at all be sure to put **Spoiler Alert** at the top of your comment (like if the selection announces the death of an integral character or something).
Here’s mine:
“Why didn’t you tell me in English class, you dork?” April sidestepped around a sign-up booth for the spirit club’s holiday fund-raiser. “I told you he was going to ask you out!” ~ The Dark Divine (ARC) by Bree Despain

As I just said on the "busy moms" site, I can't participate as usual this week, but simply have to give a recommendation for a great thesaurus that anyone who loves words and writes (hello? That's all of us!) will find incredibly useful. "The Thinker's Thesaurus" by Peter Meltzer doesn't just give you the standard kind of synonyms. Instead it gives you more sophisticated and interesting ones, with actual examples given of just about all of them — and invented ones, either, but taken from current usage. You see how "harder" words can be used to wonderful effect within the natural flow of the written passage, without seeming strained or forced. You see how it's the perfect word. (I keep being reminded, in my own head, of a scene in "Julie and Julia," the Julia Child movie, where Julia is searching for a word to describe a dish, and Paul comes up with "tangy." I just love words…)
As I just said, I love words. Anyone who does will love this book.
My recent post lizreads- Wondering why people whine about Clinton wedding but not about Obama vacations Utter hypocrisy at play I know! Racism!
Sounds quite interesting – and useful! Thank you!
