Review: The Mark

The Mark (The Mark, #1)The Mark by Jen Nadol

Summary (from Goodreads): Cassandra Renfield has always seen the mark—a glow around certain people reminiscent of candlelight. But the one time she mentioned it, it was dismissed as a trick of the light. Until the day she watches a man awash in the mark die. After searching her memories, Cassie realizes she can see a person’s imminent death. Not how or where, only when: today.

My Thoughts: This is one of those times that I wish I wrote my review right away. I usually try to, because that’s when the book and my thoughts/feelings about the book are easiest to write out. But, I put it off with this one – for various reasons, all of which were valid – and now my thoughts are fuzzy. My apologies for that. This likely will be a pretty vague review as a result.

That said, I did enjoy this book. It was a fun, interesting read that made me think. If you KNEW someone was gonna die by the end of the day, would you tell them? Should you tell them? Lucas’ obsession once he finds out about the “gift” was a bit much. Nothing against the book, just against him. While it ended with the clear intention of there being at least another book to follow, I didn’t feel like I was left hanging. I do look forward to reading more about what’s going on with Cassie.

My Rating: 4.5 Stars

This is another I have had on my Wishlist but forgot about. Interesting questions though, I would want to know but of course many would not.
