Review: Stalker Girl

Stalker Girl Stalker Girl by Rosemary Graham

Summary: How do you know when you’ve crossed the line between curiosity and obsession?

Carly never meant to become a stalker. She just wanted to find out who Brian started dating after he dumped her. But a little harmless online research turns into a quick glance, and that turns into an afternoon of watching. Soon Carly is putting all of her energy into following Brian’s new girlfriend—all of the sadness she feels about her mom’s recent breakup, all of the anger she feels over being pushed aside by her dad while he prepares for his new wife’s new baby. When Carly’s stalking is discovered in the worst possible way by the worst possible person, she is forced to acknowledge her problem and the underlying issues that led to it.

My Thoughts: I don’t know what to say about this book. Clearly the description caught my attention, as I wouldn’t have signed on for the blog tour otherwise. I don’t really know what I was expecting, but the best I can say (overall) is that it’s just OK.

Broken into three Parts, I thought the break-up of the story worked. Stalking, background, aftermath. But, I could barely make it through Part 1. It just didn’t hold my interest. I kept reading simply because I had agreed to do so for a blog tour.

I will say that it was better in the other two parts. I think, of them all, Part 2 was the best. I really felt I got to know Carly and I could feel for her. Poor thing was under a LOT of stress.

I honestly am not entirely sure what it is, but there’s just something I don’t like about this book. I can’t put my finger on it. But, there were parts I liked enough to label this one “just OK” rather than “didn’t like.”

Long-ish story short: I’m glad I didn’t buy this book. I don’t see myself reading this again. If someone asked me about it (without having read this review), I’d probably hem and haw. “Eh, it was OK …”

My Rating: 2.5 of 5 stars Note: On Goodreads it’s actually 2 stars, because half stars aren’t possible on there.

Interesting. I just finished a book like that, enjoyed a part didn't enjoy part 1 etc. Was it the flow for you? This is on my still considering list.

You know, I'm not entirely sure what it was. Just didn't work for me.

I feel the same about the book I'm reading now, called Willow .
The summary was so good that I got it, but it's just a day in the life of a cutter, nothing really else goes on :(
that's a bummer when an author does that!
and shucks, it sounded like a good book I was going to get the recommendation from u!

Don't you just hate when that happens? For what it's worth, though, I don't think the author is necessarily to blame. In my experience (I used to work in publishing), it's often not the author who writes the blurb.

Aw too bad it wasn't all that great! I hate it when that happens and we feel obligated to read bc we signed on. I read a review once from a gentleman who was much older than we are and he said…"I learned a long time ago that if I am not enjoying a book that I don't have to waste my time reading it" I thought WOW! that was honest but in a sense it is true. Our time IS valuable so I really consider this anymore when I am reviewing!

    Happy Reading :)

Not a bad idea. I almost put it down. If it didn't get me at least somewhat interested in it, I would've put it down. I just hate quitting on a book. I keep thinking it's gotta get better, ya know?
